French Futur Proche with the Imperfect - 50 Practice Cards - Distance Learning
This is a set of 50 practice cards for students who are learning how to use the futur proche in the past using the imperfect tense. The verbs which are in the infinitive form are all regular -ER, -IR, and -RE verbs. Students fill in the blanks with the verb aller in the imperfect tense. These cards will help students grasp the difference between I am going to do something VS I was going to do something.
The instructions on each card indicate that aller should be conjugated in the imperfect tense, then the sentence should be spoken, and students should then translate. All of the cards are numbered to match the answer key, which includes English translations of each sentence.
French Futur Proche - 50 Practice Cards - Distance Learning
This is a set of 50 practice cards for beginners who are learning how to use the futur proche. The verbs which are in the infinitive form are all regular -ER, -IR, and -RE verbs. This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations. It will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements and will use EST-CE QUE to form simple questions.
One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the “pioche”. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, “Est-ce que tu fais du karaté?”
The goal is to come up with complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (JE - TU - IL - NOUS- VOUS - ILS). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn’t have it, he says “pioche”. If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!

Looking for something interesting to do with your students after winter break? Before starting a new lesson I like to have students talk about what they did during the holidays. Here are 20 task cards with questions about winter break and the holidays that students can either ask each other or individually write down the answers to.
Work on these as a class or break students up into small groups to work on them, sharing their most interesting answers with the class as a follow up activity. I have also used these task cards in the language lab with the phone option. Print and cut out the cards and have students "call" other students to ask each other questions.

This dice game is an especially fun way to practice while learning about the present tense and passé composé. All of the verbs in this activity use AVOIR as helping verb. More advanced students also benefit from the review.
Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this AUTOMNE theme version of the game there 32 French-English cards. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions
At the top of each card there is an underlined French autumn related word. Beneath that word there are 4 taboo words in French and English. Technically you're not supposed to be able to use taboo words as you describe the underlined word and try to get your partner to guess correctly. However, beginner French students can also play this fun game if you DO allow them to use the taboo words. They'll learn so much. More advanced French students must not use the taboo words and have to speak in complete sentences when giving descriptions.

There are many ways you can use this set of cards:
➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.
➤ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing.
➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.
➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.
➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.
➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.
➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.
➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

French Christmas skit and reading comprehension - Noël - Mini-dialogue
This is a French dialogue about Christmas between three people. The title of this skit is Un Sapin de Noël Géant. Short skits or dialogues like this one can be used in many ways during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Have students work in pairs or small groups to read through the skit and maybe even perform it for the class! This skit can also be used as an individual reading comprehension assessment. 14 reading comprehension questions are included. The skit can be printed on one side of a sheet of paper and the questions on the other for a really easy, NO PREP Christmas activity. The grammar level is intermediate. Most of the verbs are in the present or passé composé, and very few pronouns are used. Your students will learn a lot of new Christmas vocabulary, and they’re going to have a great time with this activity! Everything is written in French only.
Present tense French ER Verbs - Primary French conjugation chains - Cut and paste
This literacy center or independent work activity for primary core French or primary French immersion is a fun, hands-on way for your students to practice conjugating 35 different regular French verbs in the present tense. Each verb page has ten strips to cut out. The first one is for the student’s name, and the following nine strips are for conjugating JE - TU - IL - ELLE - ON - NOUS - VOUS - ILS - ELLES. Students begin by filling in the blanks to add the correct present tense endings. The number of letters needed for the endings is indicated by the number of blanks provided to help students while learning or reviewing conjugations.
